Pomfret (Vavval) Fry


Ingredients

Pomfret Slices (Vavval)                  4
Red Chilli Powder                            1 tbsp
Coriander Powder                           2 tsp
Turmeric  Powder                           ½ tsp
Ginger & Garlic Paste                     1 tsp
Lemon Juice                                     2 tsp
Pepper powder                                 ¼ tsp
Salt                                                     as needed
Gingelly Oil                                      as needed for frying

Aviyal

Aviyal is one of my husband’s all time favorite dish. It is one healthy dish with lots of different types of vegetables. Today when I was looking in my refrigerator to make something for dinner, I found only few beans, 2 carrots and all other vegetables only very little. Then I thought, yes I can make aviyal. Strawberry And Banana Smoothie

My Valentine's day menu continues in this post. In my previous post, I had the recipe for Middle Eastern Falafel, with pita bread and salad. For dessert I made the strawberry and banana smoothie. So I thought I will share it with you.

Chettinadu Chicken Curry - South Indian Special

Chettinad chicken curry as the name say's its traditional dish from Karaikudi. My great grandma was born and brought in a small village called Keerani near Karaikudi. My father used to say, she used to grind masala everyday for cooking which makes it tastier and delicious. My grandma(we call her AAtha) she tought this recipe to my mom and now I'am cooking it. So this recipe has travelled  from one small village Keerani to Macclesfield, UK along with me....

Hi everybody, I'am back with wonderful, all time romantic dessert "TIRAMISU". I hope you all agree. Oats Upma

Oats upma is yet another way to consume oats in a tasty and healthy manner. So why not try it to find out how yummy it is...

Ingredients

Oats                                                  1 cup
Mixed vegetables                        1 cup (finely chopped)
(beans,carrot,peas)
Onion(small)                                1 no   (finely chopped)
Tomato                                           1 no   (finely chopped)
Chillies                                             2 or 3 nos (slit in to pieces)
Ginger                                             small piece (finely chopped)

Mustard                                          1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds                                  1/4 tsp  
Channa dhal                                  1/2 tsp
Curry leaves
Oil for tempering 
Salt as required
Water

Method
  • Heat one tsp of oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and channa dhal. Wait for it to splutter.
  • Add onions, saute until golden brown. Then add the chillies, ginger,curry leaves and tomatoes and saute until soft (2 to 3 min).
  • Add the vegetables and saute for another 3 to 5 mins, later add 3 cups and bring it to boil.
  • Add salt and oats and mix thoroughly.
  • Cover with a lid and cook till the oats are cooked.
