Method

Cut the mutton to medium pieces, wash it thoroughly. Add ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, lemon juice, garam masala powder and mix really well and marinate it for 10- 15 min.

Dry roast the black pepper and cumin seeds in a pan and grind it in the mixer and keep it aside.

Heat the oil in pressure cooker, add cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, fennel seeds, cloves and sauté for 20 sec. When you start getting a nice aroma, add the onions, green chillies, curry leaves and sauté until golden brown. Add ginger & garlic paste and sauté until raw smell goes off.

Add the tomatoes and sauté until mushy. Now add the marinated mutton pieces, 1 tbsp of cilantro leaves and sauté, when the color of meat changes to white, add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and mix well. Add about ¾ cup of water and pressure cook it for 3 -4 whistles or until the meat is really cooked.

After the steam releases, add the ground black peper (adjust to taste). Bring it to boil, add rest of the cilantro leaves and switch off the stove.

Yummy, spicy and delicious mutton pepper gravy is ready. This is gravy  perfect with white rice, idlis, dosas, rotis  and what not…
