GarvaNu – Wheat Flour Kheer [Gujarati Delight]/Wheat Flour Paayasam/Godhumai Maavu Paayasam

Today I am sharing with you all friends, readers, followers and subscribers a very happy and sweet news. From now on priyas virundhu is no more with blogspot, we have our own domain www.priyasvirundhu.com. So friends please keep visiting and encouraging us as always. Thank you all for your kind support and encouragement.

GarvaNu is a kheer from South of Gujarat. I came across this special and authentic recipe of Gujarat in Rishtey channel. The aroma of the roasted wheat flour and combined together with the flavourful cinnamon powder is just tantalizing. The GarvaNu is not supposed to be cloyingly sweet, but you can very well adjust the sweetness according to your taste. Try out this luscious kheer and have a great day. Do check out other delightful Paysam/Kheer varieties here.

Here’s how to make GarvaNu with step by step photos…

Ingredients
Wheat flour
¼ cup
Ghee
2 tbsp
Jaggery grated/Brown sugar
2 tbsp
Milk
2 cups [Boiled and cooled]
Cinnamon powder
1 tsp
¼ tsp
Blanched sliced almonds
1 tbsp
Nuts & raisins
1 tbsp
Salt
One small pinch
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 -20 minutes

Method

Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed vessel, add the wheat flour and start frying it.

Fry the wheat flour in low flame until all the raw smell vanishes.

Now add the cold milk and stir it well, to avoid all the lumps.

When it starts to boil add the brown sugar/jaggery, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, one pinch salt and stir really well.

Keep stirring till it comes to a gentle boil. The consistency of the kheer is like semi set pudding. It is neither too thick nor too thin.

Add the sliced almonds and stir well. Now switch off the stove. Delicious GarvaNu/wheat flour payasam is ready.

Finally add nuts and raisins and serve it either warm or cold.
