Karpooravalli Thuvaiyal

Karpooravallli(Tamil) otherwise is called as  Country Borage plant. It has lots of medicinal benefits. The karpooravalli leaves are used for treating common cold, cough, sore throats, nasal congestion, indigestion, rheumatism and so on. The leaves of karpooravalli plant are quite fleshy and very aromatic. These leaves are very good source of vitamins and minerals. Karpooravalli plants are easy to grow and maintain. Cut a small piece of the plant from where it is available and plant it in soil with ample amount of water. It will grow and spread faster. Onion Rice/Vengaya Sadam - Natural cure to reduce body heat & to heal stomach pain

I have been thinking of posting this recipe for a very long time, but could not. This is a recipe which my grandma used to make, then my mom and now me. This onion rice is very special and has lots of medicinal values in it. My grandma used to make this rice, when someone is suffering from stomach pain. She used to say that the onions, cooked in ghee, combined with black pepper powder reduces the body heat, heals the stomach ulcer and cures the pain. I make this a lot in summer days to cool down the body temperature. My grandma makes this only with white onions, but I switch between white, red and small pearl onions depending on the availability of onions in my kitchen. Kanyakumari Chicken Fry/Chicken Fry

Wishing all my muslim friends, readers, followers and visitors a very “Happy Ramadan”. This Kanyakumari Chicken Fry is my special treat for this Ramadan and I hope you will all like it.  

After so many months I am going to share an authentic and typical TamilNadu recipe which I came across in a TV show. It is really a tempting and addictive chicken fry from the town of Kanyakumari. This chicken fry is similar to the chicken 65, but we need not add corn flour or rice flour as binding agent. Here white sesame seeds powder is used along with the masala and taste after frying the chicken is just awesome. Not just that , chicken increases the body temperature and the sesame seeds acts as a coolant and suppresses the heat. Do try out this Kanyakumari Chicken Fry and post your feedback. Dates & Almonds Milkshake

Today I am going to share a very simple, yet healthy and nutritious milkshake made with just three ingredients dates, almonds and milk. Dates are loaded with iron and potassium. They are excellent source of dietary fiber and numerous health benefits packed in them. Almonds are a great source of many nutrients which help in development and health of human brain. Almonds help in regulating cholesterol and improve the strength and durability of bones and teeth. Almonds are good for our heart as they have unsaturated fats, proteins and potassium, the vitamin E present in it reduces the risk of heart disease. Daily intake of 2 or 3 almonds strengthen our immune system and improve skin health and complexion. Milk as we all know provides calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and protein which are all essential for healthy bone growth and development. Try out this healthy milk shake and have a great day.
