PuliKaachal/Puliyodharai Mix

Puliyodharai is traditional and authentic dish prepared in South India. We can taste excellent and tempting puliyodharai as prasadham in all the Perumal temples in Tamil Nadu. Triplicane Parthasathy temple’s puliyodharai is very special and has unique taste and flavor which is always close to our heart and soul. I just love it to the core. Pulikachal is a paste prepared with tamarind/puli, dal and spices. If we have pulikachal at home, then we can prepare puliyodharai at any time and serve it pappad or appalam. Today I am going to share a very interesting chapathi made with dal and greens. The choice of greens is totally your’s, I have used araikeerai to make this chapathi. I always come across one problem when packing lunch, my husband and elder daughter prefer to have rice for lunch and my little one always will prefer to have chapathis or rotis etc. Whenever I make paruppu keerai masiyal or any other green varieties my little daughter never has it during lunch, and I used to feel very bad about it. But then whenever I make paruppu keerai during weekdays for lunch, I blend the prepared keerai and make chapathis for her. But for my husband and elder daughter I make rice, mix this dal and prepare some vegetables and pack the lunch. I think lot of moms must be coming across this kind of problem when packing lunch for your whole family, but when you go by my idea you will feel happy and satisfied. One best part of it is your kid will eat all the chapathis and she/he will get the greens also. Yes friends, as I promised earlier here is another mango recipe in the mango recipe series. Now that we are getting bags and bags of mangoes from our back yard, we are distributing a lot of them to friends, relatives and neighbours. We plucked some raw tangy mangoes from the tree and made mango rice. This rice is one special kind of variety rice, as it is prepared in Seemandham/Vallikappu [Baby Shower] Ceremony in Tamil Nadu. Idiyappam/sevai is a very common and delectable South Indian breakfast made with rice flour. Ajwain Paratha/Omam Paratha/Carom Seeds Paratha/How to make Triangle Parathas

I have been making different types of easy and quick paratha a lot lately, the hidden reason behind it is to pack lunch for my girls. This ajwain paratha is one such paratha. It is a flavourful and delicious paratha that can be made in no time and is a perfect lunch box recipe. Ajwain/Omam is very a common and a handy herb/seed in Indian households which helps in getting rid of stomach pain, indigestion and flatulence. Not only as a good digestive aid it has other health benefits as well. Ajwain is very useful in relieving sinus problems, cold and congestion. A quick tip, before going into the recipe, crush a few seeds of ajwain tie it in a soft cloth and heat the bundle over a warm tawa.
