Ponnanganni Keerai is called as “Dwarf Copper Leaf” in English and is available throughout the year. The name “Ponnaganni” means glow like gold. It comes two different varieties one with green leaves are called “Nattu Ponnanganni” and the Red ones are called “Seemai Ponnanganni”. It is loaded with iron, calcium and other vital nutrients that make our skin glow. It is an excellent body coolant and reduces body heat when consumed for a period of 48 days. It can be consumed either as ponnaganni keerai poriyal or kootu or even as kuzhambu. Ponnanganni oil/thailam is very famous in Tamil Nadu and is used for treating headaches and also for treating excessive body heat during the summer months.
