Masala Papad

Are you looking for a quick, easy and a refreshing appetizer?  Then, here it is – Masala Papad. The crispy papad is topped with freshly chopped vegetables and sprinkled with perfect blend of spices. I have fried the papad in oil, you can roast the papad directly on flame, or microwave for about 40 secs for a healthy alternative. I have used the lijjat papad, you can choose any urad dal papad of your choice. This masala papad is a perfect starter, you can also serve it to kids as snack after school. Mean while do not forget to check out other interesting starter/appetizer recipes in the link.

Here’s how to make Masala Papad with step by step photos…

Urad Dal Papad
1 finely chopped
2  finely chopped
Cilantro/Coriander Leaves
4 tbsp  finely chopped
For frying pappads
Lemon Juice
1 tsp

Spice Mix for Garnishing

Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp
Roasted Cumin Powder
½ tsp
Turmeric Powder
One big pinch
Chaat Masala Powder
1 tsp
½ tsp
Preparation Time: 5-8 min

Cooking Time: Less than 5 minutes

Serves: 4

Mix all the spices mentioned in the table for garnishing and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a kadai and fry the pappads. If you want the healthy version, then roast the pappads on medium flame directly on stove or you can microwave it for about 40 seconds [for each pappd] and keep it aside.

Now place one pappad on a serving plate.

Sprinkle the spice mix on the pappad.

Spread the finely chopped onions on the pappad.

Now spread the finely chopped tomatoes on the pappad.

Now sprinkle spice mix  and  few drops of lemon juice.

Finally spread about 1 tbsp of coriander leaves on the top and serve immediately.

Yes, delicious, light and tempting Masala Pappad is ready to be enjoyed.
