Spinach Chapathi/Palak Chapathi/Green Chapathi/Spinach Chapathi Recipe with step by step photos

Here’s a very healthy chapathi made with spinach. It is always hard to get my daughter to eat the greens. Since she loves chapathis I try to make it with spinach or incorporate any other greens and give it to her. The only secret is whatever I make I should never reveal that it has healthy food hidden in it. But that doesn’t matter to me, unless and until they eat the food without wasting them. This spinach chapathi is a very flavourful, colourful and healthy chapathis which your kids will surely love. Meanwhile do check out other interesting and healthy Breakfast Recipes here.

Here’s how to make Spinach Chapathi with step by step photos…
Ingredients
Wheat Flour
1 cup
Spinach/Palak
1 big bunch
Chilli powder
¼ tsp
½ tsp
Ajwain seeds/Omam/Carom seeds
½ tsp
Salt
As needed
Oil
1 – 2 tsp for making dough
Preparation Time: 10-12 minutes                      Recipe Category: Breakfast/Dinner
Cooking Time: 20 minutes                                   Recipe Cuisine: North Indian
Author: Priya Anandakumar

Method
Remove stems and wash the spinach really well. Boil water in a deep sauce pan, add the spinach and salt to it. Let it boil for 2 minutes.

Drain the water and cool it. Add chilli powder, cumin powder and blend it well in the mixer. Keep the spinach puree aside.

Take wheat flour in a mixing bowl, add salt and ajwain seeds.

Now add the spinach puree little by little and start making the dough.

Add 1 -2 tsp of oil and make the dough. Add water if needed. I did not add water the spinach puree was enough to make the dough.

Close the dough and keep it for 15 min, so that the chapathis will be soft.

Make medium size balls from the dough.

Dust wheat flour and roll the balls to thin chapathis.

Heat the tawa and cook the chapathis. Cook them evenly on both sides until brown spots appear by adding oil/ghee/non-stick spray.

Remove it and smear some oil on top.

Cook rest of the rolled out chapathis.

Delicious healthy and yummy chapathis are ready. Serve them hot with raita or even with plain yogurt.
