Potato Sandwich Recipe/Potato Pocket Sandwich/Pocket Sandwich using Sandwich Maker[Prestige]/Easy Lunch Box Recipe/Picnic Delight/Potato Sandwich with step by step photos & Video in English & Tamil

Potato Sandwich/Potato Pocket Sandwich is a very easy and quick sandwich that can be served for breakfast or as after school snacks or can also be packed for school or picnic. I have used the Prestige Sandwich Maker to make the sandwiches and have given the detailed instructions for the same. But you can make same sandwich on stove top and serve it hot with ketchup. The choice of bread is totally your’s, I have used wheat bread as it is a healthier option. Do try out this delightful Potato Sandwich and post your comments. Here’s how to make Potato Sandwich with step by step photos & Video…


Boiled Potato

2 large


1 finely chopped

Green Chillies

1 finely chopped

Red Chilli Powder

¾ tsp

Coriander Powder

½ tsp

Turmeric Powder

¼ tsp

Garam Masala Powder

½ tsp

Cumin Powder

½ tsp

Curry Leaves


Cilantro/Coriander Leaves

2 tbsp finely chopped


2 tbsp

Cumin Seeds

1 tsp


As needed

For the Sandwich

Bread Slices


Oil/Butter for spreading

1-2 tbsp

Tomato Ketchup

1-2 tbsp

Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Keep rest of the ingredients ready.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan/kadai, crackle cumin seeds, then add curry leaves and fry until they turn crispy.

Add the chopped onions, green chillies, little salt and saute well until they turn to golden brown color.

Add the mashed potatoes and give a good stir.

Now add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder and required salt.

Mix everything really well until well combined and cook for about 2-3 minutes.

When the raw smell has vanished and cooked well,  add the finely chopped cilantro, mix really well and switch off the stove and transfer the potato masala to a bowl and let it cool down.

Meanwhile spread tomato ketchup on a bread slice.

Fill the bread with the potato masala.

Spread butter on the other bread slice and close it as shown.

How to cook sandwiches in Prestige Sandwich Maker, Please check the video for detailed instructions 

1.       Both red and green lights will be on when preheating.

2.      Only red light will glow indicates the sandwich maker is ready

3.       Both red and green lights will glow when sandwich is cooking

4.      Only red light will glow indicates the sandwich is ready.

For cooking in a Sandwich Maker[Prestige]

Apply oil inside the slots of the sandwich maker and preheat it.

The light indicator will show the sandwich maker is ready. Open it and place the prepared sandwiches, close it and cook.

When the sandwich is cooked the light will indicate it . Open the sandwich maker and transfer the sandwiches to a plate.

Yummy, delicious, crispy and tempting Potato Pocket Sandwich is ready to be enjoyed.
