Kalyana Rasam/How to make Kalyana Rasam at home/Wedding Style Rasam

Kalyana Rasam is a rasam served in South Indian weddings for lunch and dinner. Though we make different types of rasam at home, kalyana rasam has unique, distinct, exotic taste and flavor. When I go for marriages, if I am not able to have Kalyana Rasam with Rice, then I prefer to drink at least a glass of rasam without fail; the only reason is my love for this rasam. Thoothuvalai Keerai Rasam/Thuthuvalai Keerai Rasam

The scientific name of Thoothuvalai Keerai is Solanum Trilobatum. Thoothuvalai keerai has lots of health benefits and is commonly used for treating cold, cough, throat infections and acute asthma. Thoothuvalai leaves can be used for preparing thoothuvalai chutney, thuvaiyal, dosai, candy etc. Thoothuvalai keerai can be roasted in ghee, powdered and added to hot steaming rice for respiratory problems and as sinus cure. Mysore Rasam

Rasam is nothing but a South Indian soup with different names like Chaaru in Andra Pradesh, Rasam in Tamil Nadu, Saaru in Karnataka. Rasam is prepared with tamarind juice along with tomatoes and spices like black pepper corns, cumin seeds etc. Rasam has thin consistency and helps in digestion and has other medicinal values as well. There are different types of rasam like tomato rasam 1 , pepperrasam, paruppu rasam, lemon rasam, pineapple rasam, tomato rasam  2 etc. It is really astonishing that though all the rasams have the same base, but each of them have distinct taste, the main reason for that is adding the right ingredients at the right time at right proportion. Do check out other rasam varieties here.

It can be a hot day or a cold day, thakkali rasam is a perfect way to complete your meal. In my house rasam is a must every day, it can be paruppu rasam, pepper rasam, tomato rasam or any rasam that does not matter. But each and every rasam has a unique taste and also can be had as an appetizer. Pepper Rasam/Milagu Rasam

Rasam plays a vital role in  South Indian meals especially Tamil Nadu , no meal is complete without rasam. We make it every day at our homes but each time with different flavor and a twist. 
Whenever I go on trips and come back the very first thing I prefer after I come back will be a simple pepper rasam for two reasons, the  first is  the taste is mind blowing and the second is, it can be made in 10 minutes. Just have it with rice and appalam and your day is complete.

Lemon Rasam/Elumichham Pazham Rasam

South Indian Meals is never complete without rasam, there are different varieties of rasams and lemon rasam has a special place in it. The lemon rasam is made with thoor dhal or paasi paruppu so we get all the benefits of dhal and also in enriched with vitamin C because of the lemon juice. I used to crave this rasam a lot when I was pregnant and will ask my friend to make it and give. Pineapple Rasam/Annasi Pazham Rasam
