Wash the cabbage thoroughly with water. Cut to big pieces, grate it in grater and keep it aside. Chop the green chillies and keep it ready.

Heat oil in a kadai/pan, splutter mustard seeds, then add cumin seeds, perungayam/asafoetida, urad dal, channa dal and fry well until the dal starts to changes color.

Add the chopped green chillies , curry leaves and fry well for 20-30 seconds.

At this stage add the grated cabbage to the kadai, required salt and mix everything really well. Saute for 3-4 minutes.

Now sprinkle little water, mix really well, cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the cabbage is cooked and turns soft.

Open the lid and give a good stir and switch off the stove. Before switching off the stove, make sure there is no water left, and the cabbage is soft.
