Ragi Sweet Semiya Recipe/Finger Millet Sweet Semiya Recipe/Kezhvaragu Inippu Semiya/How to make Ragi Sweet Semiya with step by step photos

Ragi Sweet Semiya/Vermicelli is one of the easiest breakfast/evening snacks that can be made in a jiffy. Ragi Semiya can be prepared both in savory/spicy or sweet version; I have already shared the Ragi Semiya Upma[spicyversion] earlier. In this sweet version, I have used cane sugar[nattu sakkarai], you can very well replace it with regular sugar as well. Ragi Semiya is loaded with calcium, vitamins and minerals, addition of grated coconut and cane sugar makes it one super healthy breakfast and keeps your day going. I have used the store bought Ragi Semiya, which can also be replaced with homemade Ragi Idiyappam. Do try out this Ragi Sweet Semiya and post your comments here. Meanwhile do check out other interesting Sevai and Semiya Recipes here and other delicious Breakfast Recipes here.

Here’s how to make Ragi Sweet Semiya with step by step photos…

Ingredients
Ragi Semiya/Vermicelli
2oo gm [one packet]
Grated Coconut
1 cup [about ½ coconut]
Sugar/Nattu Sakkarai
3-4 tbsp
Cardamom Powder/Elachi
½ tsp
Oil
1 tsp for greasing the idli plates
Salt
One big pinch
Preparation Time: 5-6 minutes                          Recipe Category: Breakfast/Dinner
Cooking Time: 5 minutes                                      Recipe Cuisine: South Indian

Method
Cut open the Ragi Semiya Packet and add it to a bowl. Add about a litre of water or until the ragi semiya is submerged and let it rest for about 1 or 2 minutes.

Meanwhile heat water in idli steamer and grease the idli plates with little oil.

Drain the water completely from ragi semiya and place it on idli plates and steam cook for about 5 minutes and switch off the stove. Otherwise make the ragi semiya as per the packet instructions and it ready.

Let the semiya cool down for about 5-6 minutes. After the ragi semiya has cooled a bit make sure they do not stick to each other and fluff it up with a fork or hands.

Add sugar/nattu sarkkarai[cane sugar] to the ragi semiya and mix well. [I have used nattu sarkarai].

Add the grated coconut and gently mix it, but make sure the coconut is mixed evenly in the ragi vermicelli/semiya.

Finally add one pinch of salt, cardamom powder to the ragi vermicelli and mix everything well.

Yes, delicious, healthy and super tempting Ragi Sweet Semiya/Vermicelli is ready to be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just as sweet snacks also.
