Kondakadalai Sundal/White Chickpea sundal

Kondakadalai/Chickpea sundal is a very common and healthy sundal variety prepared during the pooja days especially on Vinayaka Chathurthi, Navarathri etc. It is a very healthy and a filling evening snack, packed with proteins and fibers.

Here’s how to make it with step by step photos…

Ingredients

Kondakadalai/Chickpeas/Garbanzo
1 cup
Green chillies
2 finely chopped
Ginger
½ inch piece finely chopped
Dry Red chillies
2
Mustard seeds
1 tsp
Urad dhal
1 ½ tsp
Asafoetida
2 pinches
Grated Coconut
¼ cup
Curry leaves
6 -8
Oil
2 tsp

Method

Soak the chickpeas overnight. Rinse and wash it the next day, add enough water, salt and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles. The chickpeas should not be mushy, but should be soft. Drain the water and keep the chickpeas aside.

Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds after it splutters add urad dhal, red chillies, asafoetida and curry leaves, sauté until the urad dhal turns golden brown.

Add the chickpeas/kondakadalai and sauté for about a min. Now add the grated coconut and sauté for another 2 -3 min and switch off the stove.

Adjust the needed salt at this point; be careful because we have already added salt when cooking the chickpeas.

Yummy and delicious sundal is ready to enjoyed.

Thank you for visiting my blog, please come back again for more healthy sundals.

Until then I am signing off…
