Black Chickpea Sundal Recipe/Kondakadalai sundal Recipe/Kala channa Sundal Recipe - Navaratri Special Sundal

Karuppu Kondakadalai sundal is a very special sundal made for all special occasions like vinyagar chaturthi, during navarathri and many more. Not only special occasions it makes a very healthy and filling evening snack. It has lot of anitoxidants and filled with protein and fiber. So, I make sure that I make at least one type of sundal twice a week. You check my other sundal varieties here

Here’s how to make it…


Ingredients

Black chickpeas
1 cup
Grated coconut (optional)
2 tbsp
Mustard seeds
¼ tsp
Cumin seeds
¼ tsp
Channa dhal/kadalai paruppu
1 tsp
Urad dhal
1 tsp
Red chillies
2
Onions
1 small finely chopped
Green chillies
1 or 2 finely chopped
Ginger
½ inch finely chopped
Asafoetida
Two pinches
Salt
As needed
Oil
1 tsp
Curry leaves

Preparation Time: 5-6 minutes          Recipe Category: Neivedhyam, Evening Snack

Soaking time: 8 hours                              Recipe Cuisine: Tamil Nadu India

Cooking Time: 15 -20 minutes

Method

Wash and soak the black chickpeas for 6-8 hours or overnight. Later pressure cook the black chickpeas for 1 or 2 whistles. Drain the water and keep it aside.

Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds after it crackle, add cumin seeds, urad dhal, red chillies and sauté for 20 sec. Now add the onions, green chillies, ginger ,curry leaves and sauté until the raw smell goes off. Add the cooked black chick peas, asafoetida powder and fry for about 2 min.

Finally add the grated coconut, mix well and switch off the stove.


Yummy and healthy sundal is ready.
