Mango Jam

I bought some raw mangoes to make mango gravy (kuzhambu). But I was just procrastinating things because of my laziness. The raw mangoes turned to delicious ripe mangoes. Then I came across mango jam, found it interesting. So I thought I will give it a shot and share it with you all. It is just fabulous,  you should surely try it...

Here’s how to make it with step by step photos…

Ingredients

Ripe Mangoes
3
Sugar
1 cup
Water
¼ cup
Lemon juice
1 ½ tsp
Cloves (optional)
1

Method

Wash and cut the mangoes, now remove only the flesh part and blend it in the mixer.

In a heavy bottomed vessel add the mango puree, sugar, water and let it cook for 20 to 25 min. It will start to form bubbles and thicken slowly. When it comes to the jam consistency, add the lemon juice, cloves and give a good stir and switch off the stove.

Let it cool down, sterilize a bottle and store the jam in it air tight. Each time use only a fresh spoon, so that the jam won’t get spoiled.

Adding cloves is totally optional, you can avoid it if you don’t want it.

Three mangoes yield about 10 to 12 oz  of jam.

Thank you for visiting my blog, please come back again for more delicious and mouthwatering recipes.
Until then I am signing off…
