Gulab Jamun With Milk Powder

Gulab jamun is an all time favorite sweet for anybody and everybody. It is one of the traditional Indian desserts found in all occasions. Here I thought I will make Gulab Jamuns with milk powder and share it with you all.

Here’s the delicious Gulab jamuns with step by step photos…

Ingredients

Milk powder
1 cup + 2 tbsp
All purpose flour/maida
1 tbsp
Ghee
3 tsp + for frying jamuns
Baking powder
½ tsp

For the Syrup

Sugar
1 ½  cup
Water
1 ½ cup
Orange food color(optional)
One pinch
Cardamom powder
¼ tsp

Method

Prepare the sugar syrup by heating the water and sugar together in a pan. Let it boil really well, then add the orange food color and the cardamom powder. Switch off the stove and keep it aside.

Combine milk powder, all purpose flour, baking powder well. Slowly add water little by little to make the dough. Add 3 tsp of ghee and make the dough, the dough should not be too hard nor too sticky. It should be just right to make balls.

Make small balls and keep it in a plate. Heat little ghee or oil in a kadai, keep the stove medium flame and fry the jamuns. The stove should not be in high flame the jamuns will get burnt on the outside and will not get cooked on the inside. Fry the jamuns evenly to golden brown color.

After frying the jamuns add them to the prepared hot sugar syrup.

Yummy and delicious Gulab Jamuns are ready to be enjoyed.

  10. Is it baking powder or baking soda? what difference will the two make and which is preferred over the other? And, is it very essential?
