Simple & Quick Peas Pulav /Matar Pulav/Peas Pulav Recipe/How to make Peas Pulav with step by step photos

Peas pulav is a simple one pot meal hassle free and can be made very quickly. It is perfect for get together’s when you have lot of other dishes to make and is also best for packing as lunch. I have used coconut milk to make this peas pulav because my kids love it like that and it also gives extra flavor but you can as well replace it with just water. Check out my quick  Vegetable Pulav Here.

Here’s how to make peas pulav with step by step photos…

Basmathi rice
1 cup
Peas(frozen or fresh)
½ cup
1 thinly sliced lengthwise
Green chilles
6-8 (adjust to taste)
Ginger & garlic paste
1 tbsp
Mint leaves
One handful
Coconut milk or water
1 ½ cup
1 inch one piece
As needed

For Tempering
Oil + Ghee
1 ½ tbsp
Bay leaves
½ inch one piece
Fennel seeds
¼ tsp
Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes                       Recipe Category: Main Course
Cooking Time: 30 miniutes                                   Recipe Cuisine: Indian

Wash and soak the basmathi rice for 15 to 20 min. In a pressure cooker, heat the oil and ghee together. Add the ingredients mentioned for tempering and sauté for a min or until a good aroma comes out.

Now add the onion, green chillies and sauté until it turns golden brown. Add the ginger & garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell vanishes.

Add the peas and sauté for about a min then add one fist full of mint leaves and sauté till it shrinks.

Now add the coconut milk or water, salt and wait until it comes to boil. Drain the water from the rice and add it to the cooker.

Once the bubble starts to appear, close it with pressure cooker lid and keep it for one whistle or keep it in medium flame for 10-12 min without whistle.

After the steam releases open the lid carefully and give one gentle stir without breaking the rice.

Now fluffy and yummy peas pulav is ready to be served. You can serve it with simple onion raita or with vegetable kurma.

I have used coconut milk to give more flavor and taste to the rice, you can replace it with just water.
