Green Beans Poriyal/Curry

A simple beans poriyal, just right for any day. I don’t think green beans needs any  introduction. So here’s the green beans poriyal…

Ingredients

Beans
250 gm chopped finely
Mustard
½ tsp
Cumin seeds
½ tsp
Urad dhal
½ tsp
Dry red chillies
3
Asafoetida
One pinch
Grated coconut
3 to 4 tbsp
Curry leaves
5 -6
Salt
As needed
Oil
2 tsp

Method

Wash and cut the beans to fine pieces.

Heat the oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds after it splutter, add cumin seeds, urad dhal, red chillies and curry leaves.

After the urad dhal turns golden brown, add the chopped green beans, salt, asafoetida and sauté for about 3 min. Cover it with the lid and cook in low flame for 5 min. The steam will help the beans to cook.

Open it and stir it, sprinkle some water and cook for 5 -10 min. When the beans is cooked add the grated coconut and give a good toss.

Note:
Here I used only 1 tbsp of grated coconut, but you can add more or less depending on your taste.

Yummy and delicious beans poriyal is ready to be served. A simple and healthy side dish for all types of rice and rotis.

Thank you for visiting my blog, please come back for more side dishes.
