Method

Wash and clean the kothamalli bunches, use the stem also. All the fiber is in the stem so do not throw it away.

In a kadai add just ¼ tsp of oil and add the green chillies and ginger and sauté for about 5 -7 min. In the same kadai, add the cilantro and sauté for 1 min and switch off the stove.

In the blender add grated coconut, green chillies, ginger, black pepper, cilantro and tamarind and grind to a fine paste. Now transfer the chutney to a bowl.

In a a kadai heat gingelly oil/sunflower oil, add mustards after it splutters, add cumin seeds, urad dhal, red chillies, curry leaves and sauté for about 2 min. Now add it to the chutney in the bowl.

Yummy and healthy cilantro/kothamalli chutney is ready. It is a perfect chutney for soft idlis, dosas and white rice.
